In the official guidebook for Gold and Silver, it says Chikorita can learn Fly by HM. This is obviously false, but I thought it would be interesting to note. [[User:Kyro-Dizzy|Kyro-Dizzy]] ([[User talk:Kyro-Dizzy|talk]]) 23:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

001Bulbasaur RG.png Due to special coding in place in the article, the artwork featured on this article will change every year on November 21 and October 15 in celebration of the releases of Gold and Silver in Japan, and Gold and Silver in the United States. This will only affect the artwork shown in the infobox. This changes every year, so when the time comes, here to return to the page and change the display.

Converting to Emerald Artwork?

I notice that the Totodile Page has been given artwork from Emerald, so should we do the same for Cyndaquil and Chikorita? - unsigned comment from Jonouchi (talkcontribs)

Go ahead we did that to the sinnoh starters--CoolPikachu! 22:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
-_- The Sinnoh starters didn't get artwork from Emerald, they got it from Platinum. Anyways, I suppose you could, but you'll have to upload the pictures. - spontaneousCombusken 22:13, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I knew what meant SpontaneousCombusken -_- I just wasn't being specific--CoolPikachu! 22:47, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Is there emerald art o the archives? Pluss Croconaw has TCG art--Davidaipom 17:41, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Still Sugimori art... TTEchidna 00:33, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Mudkip Errors

It says on the Mudkip Page that Mudkip is the only quadruped starter Pokemon. However, Chikorita and Turtwig are quadrupeds. I am going to edit that. --I like articunos and mudkips!!! 11:52, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

That's true, but if you have read it more clearly, it said, "Mudkip is the only Water-type starter that is quadrupedal."Deathgabriel 11:56, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
And why is this on the Chikorita page? The Dark Fiddler - 10% Satisfaction Guaranteed! 16:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

That's odd

This page says Grovyle and Chikorita have the same height that seem odd is this a error or are they really the same size? User:Riggins

That's definitely gotta be false... if that's on the page, its gotta be removed...--DRAGONBEASTX 00:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

No It may seem wrong but they are the same size my PokeDex says so.--☆Coolピカチュウ! 00:59, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Well... what do ya(he, he... I said "ya") know? I checked on the Grovyle page and its true... they are the same size... except for the anime... Grovyle are huge in the anime...--DRAGONBEASTX 01:03, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I just checked my pokedex too, but ya that Pokemon for you. Some how a first stage Pokemon is the same size as a basic stage Pokemon. So maybe that should be a trivia or some thing? I'm not sure if it's even important to point out.User:Riggins

In my opinion, I don't think much of it should be mentioned... maybe a bit, but not much...--DRAGONBEASTX 01:15, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
It would make a very funny "Did you know..." in my In my opinionUser:Riggins
We don't have "Did you know..."s, though...--DRAGONBEASTX 01:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes, we have them in the Main Page... Also, this is getting too much forum like... hfc2X 17:42, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Emerald Art

Is there a better version of the Emerald art work? I don't mean to be picky but it looks kinda choppy --Riggy (>0.0)> 02:38, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

That SO does not look like Sugimori artwork. That's not even from Emerald. 0_0 --Jonouchi 18:59, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

HeartGold & SoulSilver Art

Serebii.net just got Ken Sugimori artwork for Chikorita and the other Jhoto Starters for HeartGold and SoulSilver. Can someone please get the artwork and put it on here? --Dialgafan1 01:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Dialgafan1

Just wait it'll take a while.--☆Coolピカチュウ! 01:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Chikorita Sprite

There is a battle sprite of Chikorita that was revealed recently on Serebii.net. - unsigned comment from Bluekirbystar (talkcontribs)

It's not really of clear quality. People might mistake it for a beta sprite like this one. That one was ripped from a picture that wasn't really of good quality. tc²₆tc26 12:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

HGSS Prerelease starter Pokémon selection.png

Speaking of which, we can rip the HGSS Chikorita sprite from this starter Pokémon select screen. Right? It doesn't look blurry or beta to me. :P |>H1|2357R1K3 19:33, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Only problem is, compare the size of that screenshot with that of a real DS:

Wing Attack IV.png

Quite a bit smaller. Wait on this one. Fall comes soon enough. TTEchidna 20:44, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Location

Why can't we just put in the location of HeartGold and SoulSilver? Same as the other 2, why!?--The Bulb's Master 16:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC) The Master had a headace and needs to go to the hospital!

The HGSS location data and Dex entries aren't being added until just before the game gets released. —darklordtrom 20:22, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Names?!

ChikoRITA, BAYLEEf, MEGANium? All female names! Though Baylee is mispelled (Bailey). Trivia worthy? - unsigned comment from Derian (talkcontribs)

I don't think so Turtwig A Contributions Talk 17:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually, that does make good Trivia. --CuboneKing 17:48, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon Trivia..

I can't edit the article page, but can add this on the Talk Page. Right now, the article reads:

"Even though it has a 87.5% chance of being male, most Chikorita in the anime are female, including the Chikorita from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon special and Ash's Chikorita.

* Also, in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, Chikorita is only available as a female when chosen as a starter or partner."

This was only true in Red/Blue Rescue Team. In Time/Darkness/Sky, Chikorita can be both male and female :P Tails0600 06:35, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Slightly Altered?

Chikorita's evolution line's names are hardly even changed when translated into English from Japanese. Trivia?--Maii 22:09, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Maii

It's already in the trivia section... 梅子 22:26, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
It should be changed because Chicorita is different than Chikorita (as there is a "c" instead of a "k". Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 22:44, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
...the fact remains that NOA used the same names, just came up with their own romanizations, if you will (in the case of Bayleef, it was probably because how the hell can you copyright "Bayleaf"). 梅子 22:51, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
I mean it says it was not changed at all while it was slightly altered. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 22:52, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry! I need to read articles more carefully!*facepalm*--Maii 23:06, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Maii♪

Grammer Mistake

Hey. Sorry if this is something silly to bring up, I'm new here, but there's a grammer mistake in the article under, 'Behavior'. It reads, "Chikorita, like many Grass Pokémon, are very docile. It prefers to avoid fights by using the aromatherapeutic properties of the large leaf on its head..." In the first sentence it refers to Chikorita as a species, but after that the article uses "it", which is incorrect. The way it was used "Chikorita" was a plural subject, but after that the article uses a singular pronoun. I'm sort of OCD about grammer, so I want to change it, but I'm not sure if I can, and I'm not sure how. There are two fixes: change the first line so that the subject agrees with all the following pronouns, or change the pronouns so that they agree with the preceeding subject. --Torchica01 22:51, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Chikorita are a species, so I think they should all be plural. ナエトル A or Turtwig A My talk and my contributions 23:43, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

A slight inaccuracy

Chikorita is one of four Pokémon (five species total) that have a gender ratio of 7:1 that have had a female shown in the anime but not a male. The others are Ash's Bayleef, Togepi, Togekiss and Snivy. While I will agree that there hasn't been really male Chikorita shown. We don't know what Misty's Togepi/Togetic is (but I think it was referred to as Male). And Shooti's Snivy was male, Snivy don't change genders when evolving. So its inaccurate because at least with Snivy there was a male shown in the anime. --Dman dustin 09:02, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I was actually about to say the same thing in regards to Snivy. Ikarishipper900 00:37, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Maybe some Trivia

Chikorita is the only grass type starter that doesn't learn any health-draining moves (Absorb, mega drain, giga drain, leech seed, etc) through leveling up Yeah, might seem useless, but it stands out Twilight-kun (talk) 20:02, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
