If someone with Sturdy does enough damage with a move like {{m|Head Smash}} to OHKO themself, will they still faint or will Sturdy kick in? Example, it an Aggron uses Head Smash and OHKOs a Blissey with 700 HP, the recoil Aggron takes will always be enough to OHKO itself; will Sturdy kick in or will Aggron go down anyway? Explosion & Selfdestruct

These two moves cause the user to faint upon using them, but, does the user's Sturdy prevent it from fully fainting? JetanHertz13 19:02, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

No, Pokémon with Sturdy will still faint if their HP is reduced to 0 by means other than OHKO moves. Damp is the ability that negates explosive moves. —darklordtrom 22:18, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Question

I have a question. Does Sturdy still give an immunity to moves like Fissure and Sheer Cold in Black and White? Pokemon champ 08:58, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Never mind I found out myself, sorry for the stupid question. Pokemon champ 09:01, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Potential Trivia

Is it worth mentioning that 23 out of the 32 Pokémon that can have this ability (I think i counted correctly) are at least part Rock-type? I see this as being a blatant reference to a rock's strength and resilience ie sturdiness. Oshawhat? 17:41, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Recoil

If someone with Sturdy does enough damage with a move like Head Smash to OHKO themself, will they still faint or will Sturdy kick in? Example, it an Aggron uses Head Smash and OHKOs a Blissey with 700 HP, the recoil Aggron takes will always be enough to OHKO itself; will Sturdy kick in or will Aggron go down anyway? According to Smogon, it "Does not protect the holder from OHKOing itself from recoil damage." --Abcboy (talk) 01:29, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
