Notability rules

The following are guidelines to which Pokémon are notable in the Pokémon manga to get their own articles on Bulbapedia:

Pokémon Adventures

  1. Starter Pokémon that are owned by any of the main characters are all notable, provided they have appeared in more than one chapter/round. If they have not met this criteria, then they would have to have a significant impact on the plot of the chapter/round, manga series as a whole, or a certain arc.
  2. Other Pokémon owned by main characters are notable, provided they have appeared in more than two chapters/rounds AND had a significant impact on the plot of the chapter/round, manga series as a whole, or a certain arc.
  3. For recurring characters, only their signature Pokémon may have an article. Otherwise, they would have to have a certain impact on the plot of the chapter/round to be notable. Exceptions to this rule can be made for either side.
  4. Sections about Gym Leaders' Pokémon should be added to the relevant anime article, if such an article exists. If a Gym Leader's signature Pokémon in the manga does not have an anime article, it may only receive an article if it had an important impact on the plot of the chapter/round it appeared in. Exceptions to this rule can be made for either side.

Pokémon Pocket Monsters

  1. Starter Pokémon that are owned by any of the main characters are all notable, provided they have appeared in more than one chapter.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!

  1. Starter Pokémon that are owned by any of the main characters are all notable, provided they have appeared in more than one chapter.
  2. Only Pokémon owned by main characters who are have important parts of the plot and get character development outside of battle are notable.

Anime manga adaptions

  1. For anime-based manga series such as Electric Tale of Pikachu and Ash & Pikachu, all information should be added to the Pokémon's anime counterpart's article in its own section. Same goes for the movie adaptions.
  2. If the Pokémon did not appear in the anime, an article may only be created if it was owned by a main/recurring character for more than two chapters and had a significant impact on the plot of the series.

Magical Pokémon Journey and Pokémon Chamo-Chamo ☆ Pretty ♪

  1. As most Pokémon in Magical Pokémon Journey and Pokémon Chamo-Chamo ☆ Pretty ♪ were major characters that interacted as much as the human characters, many of them are considered notable for their own articles. However, that does not mean each Pokémon that appeared in the series deserves its own article - only the ones who were main characters.

Pokémon Get da ze!

  1. Only Pokémon owned by main characters who are have important parts of the plot and get character development outside of battle are notable.

Pokémon 4koma

Other manga series

  1. Pokémon from manga series not mentioned above will be treated on an individual basis.
