Ueda appears in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in the northwesternmost house in Hotel Grand Lake alongside a Gengar. Introducing himself as the game director that "really loves Gengar", he gifts the player a Catching Charm if they have completed the National Pokédex. Along with Junichi Masuda, he is only referred to in-game as "Game Director".
