Takumi Akabane is a former research and development director at Creatures, Inc., having been a part of the company since at least 1994, when he was listed as a chief debugger on the game EarthBound, before resigning in 2008. He is credited with creating the Pokémon Trading Card Game alongside Tsunekazu Ishihara and Kouichi Ooyama, and acted as its creative director from 2001 to 2008, after which he was succeeded in that role by Atsushi Nagashima.
