Creatures Co., Ltd. Established

Tsunekazu Ishihara established Creatures Co., Ltd. in 1995. It was founded as a production company that created various media like games, books, video games, and trading cards. It is one of the three original companies behind the "Pokémon" franchise, and has produced various Pokémon-related works. "It was founded with partial investment from Nintendo. The company's name Creatures refers to what was created by the Creator = all living things. I liked the open meaning of the name and chose it as the company name. Hopefully, what this company makes will be full of passion." (Tsunekazu Ishihara) (November 8, 1995)

Trivia

  • This card is the prototype of Chansey from the Base Set, which features some key differences in how it functions:
    • It has 140 HP. The final version has 120 HP.
    • It has no Weakness and no Resistance. The final version has a Fighting Weakness and a Psychic Resistance.
    • When it uses the Double-Edge attack, it does 50 damage to itself on this card, and 80 damage on the final card.
  • The entire card is hand-drawn, except the "25th" stamp.
  • Weakness was referred to as "WEAKPOINT" on this card. No equivalent for Resistance means that, in 1995, Resistance probably wasn't invented as a Pokémon TCG concept yet.

Origin

Double-Edge is a move in the Pokémon games that Chansey can learn. On this card, the attack's name is partially rendered in kanji instead of fully in kana.
