Decidueye debuted as a Dartrix in No Stone Unturned!, where it was first seen training with Hau. It fired a Razor Leaf, which ended up hitting Ash, Rotom, and Pikachu. Hau later used Dartrix in his battle against Ash, where it went up against his Rowlet. With Rowlet having a tendency to fall asleep, Dartrix had an advantage and was able to knock Rowlet out when Ash struggled to find his Grassium Z.
The next day, Dartrix had a rematch against Rowlet, and this time, it was defeated when Rowlet used Bloom Doom.
In League Offenders and Defenders!, Dartrix was revealed to have evolved into Decidueye when Hau met Ash and his classmates at the Manalo Conference. Hau later used Decidueye during the battle against Team Skull, where it went up against Rapp and her Zubat and won.
In SM132, Decidueye went up against Ash and Rowlet in the second round of the Manalo Conference. Rowlet attempted to attack with Bloom Doom, but Decidueye was able to dodge it before firing Spirit Shackle at Rowlet, which prevented it from escaping. Hau and Decidueye then performed Sinister Arrow Raid, but Rowlet narrowly escaped the attack. The match continued in the next episode, where, after a collision between Sky Attack and Brave Bird, Rowlet looked like it was unable to battle, only for Hala to realize it was actually sleeping. The match recommenced, with Decidueye hitting Rowlet with another Spirit Shackle before launching another Sky Attack. However, Rowlet was able to dodge it with Feather Dance before knocking Decidueye out.
Decidueye reappeared in a flashback in SM138.
In SM140, Decidueye was used to battle a Shiny Guzzlord to prevent it from the destroying the Manalo Stadium. With a combination of Z-Moves, Decidueye, among others, managed to send the Shiny Guzzlord back into its Ultra Wormhole.
Decidueye reappeared in SM141.
Personality and characteristics
Decidueye's rivalry with Rowlet
Decidueye has a clean and fashionable personality, as seen in No Stone Unturned!. It also shares a close bond with Hau and takes battling very seriously. In addition, Decidueye maintains a friendly rivalry with Rowlet, to the point where they even have their own signature handshake. After it is defeated, Decidueye accepts the outcome graciously, as seen in SM133, where, despite losing to Rowlet, it happily shook one of its feet with one of Rowlet's. Decidueye showed concern for Hau following his loss during the Manalo Conference, as seen in SM133, showing its strong bond with its Trainer.

| Description: Decidueye strikes a series of synchronized poses with its Trainer to build Z-Power. It then files into the sky and release multiple feather from itself to form arrows. Decidueye then dives towards the target, releasing multiple arrows behind on its back to strike down the opponent.

In the games
In the Alola-based games, Hau will battle the player using Dartrix and Decidueye if the player choose Litten as their starter Pokémon.
