Professor Oak

Professor Samuel Oak is located in Pallet Town; he is the giver of the Pokédex to all beginning trainers in the classic games. In the anime, Oak is most notable for his often-forgetful attitude and other antics.

Also, it is frequently alleged that the good professor is in a more-or-less serious relationship with Ash's mother. They at least seem to have a flirtatious friendship going, although beyond that nothing can be proven.
