The Pokémon Videogame Showdown is a massive Pokémon video game tournament. It pits 128 players against each other in two age groups: the Senior Division and Junior Division.

Contest Workings

128 players assemble in a playing area, and pairs of players are randomly selected to play against each other at small tables with poles with numbers on them and two Nintendo DS Lite systems which are connected to an internal machine by wires; the DS cartridges are inserted into slots on the table. The battles are Double Battles and use the Double Cup rules. Players are gradually eliminated as they lose, until eight remain. These eight will go to the championships in Orlando, FL. However, the contest continues on to decide the winner of a Wii, three extra Wii Remotes, and a copy of Pokémon Battle Revolution.
