Pokémon Videogame Showdown 2008

The Pokémon Videogame Showdown is a massive Pokémon video game tournament. It pits 128 players against each other in two age groups: the Senior Division and Junior Division.

Contest Workings

128 players would assemble in a playing area, and pairs of players would be randomly selected to play against each other at small tables with poles on them and two Nintendo DS Lite systems which were connected to an internal machine by wires; the DS cartridges were inserted into slots on the table. The battles would be Double Battles and use the Double Cup rules. Players were gradually eliminated as they lost, until eight remained. These eight would go to the championships in Orlando, Florida. However, the contest continued on to decide the winner of a Wii, three extra Wii Remotes, and a copy of Pokémon Battle Revolution.
