The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスター サン・ムーン 特別体験版 Pocket Monsters Sun and Moon Special Demo Version) is a special, expanded demo edition of Pokémon Sun and Moon. It was released worldwide on October 18, 2016, in promotion of its parent game, which will release the following month. Unlike its predecessor, the Special Demo Version for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, this demo is immediately available to download to the public via Nintendo's eShop or through their homepage.
Gameplay
Like the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo, the player plays as the male protagonist with a preset name. The player is given a special Greninja from a certain Trainer, and has the opportunity to use it as a member of their party. Because of its Ability, Battle Bond, this Greninja is able to transform into Ash-Greninja after defeating a Pokémon. At the end of the demo, the player will be able to transfer the Greninja to their full Sun or Moon game. The player is also able to use a Pikachu holding a Z-Crystal, allowing them to use a Z-Move.
The demo features a demonstration of the Poké Finder feature. During the demo, the player battles Plumeria and her Golbat.
Transferrable rewards
The player is capable of transferring Ash's Greninja as well as any items obtained to the full version of Pokémon Sun and Moon by speaking to Professor Kukui on the right-hand side of the Pokémon Center in Hau'oli City.
