Mew (Japanese: ミュウ Mew) is a recurring Pokémon character in the new series. It serves as a goal for Go, who aims to catch it.

History

Mew first appeared in a flashback in SS001, four years prior to the events of Pokémon - I Choose You!. Go and Koharu spotted it while attending Professor Oak's Summer Camp, where it was seen battling a Nidoking. Mew soon ran off, leading Go and Koharu to chase it. Mew saved a baby Kangaskhan from a fall before leaving. After reporting this to Professor Oak, Go became determined to make Mew his first capture.

In SS003 and SS004, Mew was mentioned by Go, where his expressed his desire to make Mew his starter Pokémon. After capturing Scorbunny, Go decided to make Mew's capture his ultimate goal.

Mew reappeared in the present day in SS020, where it Transformed into a Lugia and attacked Team Rocket, who had captured Ash's Pikachu, Go's Raboot, and Koharu's Yamper, freeing the trapped Pokémon. Everyone thought it was Lugia, but once it left, Mew revealed itself.

Personality and characteristics

Mew is a strong Pokémon, capable of holding its own in battle, as seen during the flashback in SS001, where it held off against Nidoking's attacks and fought back with the same moves.

Mew is also kind and helpful, as seen in SS001, where it saved a baby Kangaskhan from a fall and SS020, where it helped free the trapped Pokémon from Team Rocket's clutches.
