While [[Ash Ketchum|Ash]] and [[Ash's friends|his friends]] were heading through [[Trovitopolis]] on the way to [[Trovita Island]], they met up with the mayor. He was trying to rid the city of a monster that lived in the sewers. He was up for reelection, and if he could get rid of it, he would surely win the election.

The mayor wanted to get rid of the creature in the sewers so he can get re-elected, and hired a personal SWAT team to carry out his needs by guarding every sewer entrance in the city. However, after sealing all the exits in the sewers, it turns out the mayor was more concerned about getting re-elected than what was going in in the sewers.


However, Ash and the others found out that the monster was actually a [[giant Pokémon|large]] {{p|Bulbasaur}} that appeared to have been abandoned by its trainer. When they told the mayor this, he had them taken away. Eventually, Ash and the others broke away and showed the entire town that the monster had been a Bulbasaur. They then learned that the Bulbasaur used to belong to the mayor. He simply abandoned it because it wouldn't evolve..
As Ash and his friends were looking for Bulbasaur, [[Misty]] and [[Misty's Togetic|Togepi]] got captured, too. It later turns out a {{p|Bulbasaur}} that was [[Giant Pokémon|twice its size]] was the creature wreaking havoc in the sewers. It was lonely after being abandoned by its master and was looking for someone to keep it company. They showed the whole town that the monster was the Bulbasaur the mayor left in the sewers after the pipes got backed up from the concrete-sealed sewer exits and flooded Trovitopolis City Hall.


Once the town found out about what had happened, they refused to vote for the mayor. He was put away, and the town's [[Nurse Joy]] agreed to take care of it.

The Mayor of Trovitopolis (Japanese: ビッグシティの市長 Mayor of Big City) is a character of the day in the Pokémon anime who appeared in The Mystery Menace. His Japanese voice actor is 中嶋聡彦 Toshihiko Nakajima (林原めぐみ Megumi Hayashibara as a child) and his English voice actor is Jimmy Zoppi.

While Ash and his friends were heading through Trovitopolis on the way to Trovita Island, they landed in the sewers after one of Team Rocket's attempts to steal Pikachu went wrong.
