Jimmy's Typhlosion (Japanese: ケンタのバクフーン Kenta's Bakphoon) was Jimmy's starter Pokémon, given to him as a Cyndaquil by Professor Elm.

History

As a Cyndaquil

Jimmy obtained it on the same day that Vincent got his Chikorita and Marina got her Totodile.

Cyndaquil would soon become one of the closest Jimmy's Pokémon, at the very beginning of his journey Jimmy uses Cyndaquil to battle Silver, but is defeated by the power of his rival's Nidoking.

The defeat made them decide to become increasingly strong and soon evolved into a Quilava and some time later to a Typhlosion. Thanks to his arduous training, the duo eventually manages to defeat Silver, which the two even closer.

Jimmy uses Typhlosion to defeat a trainer named Shinji and his powerful Hitmonlee, after a hard battle the fire type Pokemon and Jimmy emerges victorious and will compliment the trainer defeated and his Pokémon.

Typhlosion is used in the battle of Jimmy against Marina, Jimmy chooses him to battle against Marina's Croconaw where despite the disadvantage that he made such an incredible battle. Nevertheless, the battle is interrupted because of the actions from Team Rocket against Raikou.

Jimmy then uses Typhlosion to battle against Attila's Skarmory and Hun's Steelix however is defeated by ground attacks and the disadvantage of Steelix and Skarmory combined attacks.

In order to protect Jimmy, Typhlosion tries to battle the wounded Raikou, but Jimmy stops him. After retrieving her energy, Typhlosion is used again to save Raikou from the clutches of Team Rocket, and he uses his fire attack combined with the attacks Vincent's Meganium and Little Miss to try to destroy the machine of Team Rocket.

Jimmy uses Typhlosion also once again in order to save Raikou the machine and uses the maximum of his strength to be able to save the legendary Pokémon alongside Meganium belong to Vincent.

Personality and characteristics

Like Ash and his Pikachu, Jimmy and Typhlosion are very close to each other. In The Legend of Thunder!, he was seen out of his Poké Ball most of the time. He is Jimmy's strongest Pokémon.

Like Jimmy, Typhlosion is determined and never gives up. He has an offensive battle style. He seems to be very strong defensively, being able to take a direct Water Gun from Wani-Wani and still be strong enough to battle.

As a friend, Typhlosion likes to play with the face of his trainer and laugh in his face when he is embarrassed about the insinuations of Marina. However he is extremely loyal to Jimmy, to the point of confronting the power of a legendary Pokémon even though seriously wounded after a battle.

Trivia

  • Typhlosion is the only one of the trio of starters belonging to Vincent, Jimmy, and Marina not to be seen in the main anime. This is because Jimmy himself has never appeared in it, where Vincent battled against Ash at the Silver Conference under the name "Jackson", and Marina has made several cameos during the Diamond & Pearl series.
