The Global Battle Union is a part of the Pokémon Global Link which records battle records data from the Random Match up Rating Mode. It started in August 2011, and is currently in its third season.

In order to access to the Battle Union, a player must have an account with the Global Link. Rankings cannot even be seen without logging into the Global Link first.

Rankings

Once a player has completed ten Random Match up Wi-Fi battles (ties and incomplete battles do not count) of any format, they are added into the ranking system of the Global Battle Union. All players are ranked according to the number of points that they have. The points are generally intended to account for the win-loss record of that player. In addition to seeing the general rankings and points of other players, players can also view an "advanced" version of their own rankings by clicking a "details" button on the page.

In addition to being able to see the overall rankings of each player, rankings can also be filtered by battle format (single, double, triple, launcher, or rotation battles) as well as by location of the player.

Players that end a season ranked in the top 100 of the overall rankings receive a special trophy avatar.

Seasons

Every three months, the Battle Union ends a season. The following day, a new season will begin. Final rankings are released two to three weeks after a season ends. Once a new season starts, each player starts over with zero points.

Listed below are all of the Battle Union seasons that have been scheduled:

  • Season 1: April 13th, 2011- June 18th through 2011
  • Season 2: June 29th, 2011- September 27th through 2011
  • Season 3 (current): September 28th, 2011 through December 27th, 2011
  • Season 4 (scheduled): December 28th, 2011 through March 27th, 2012

Tournaments

In addition to its ranking system, the Battle Union also was intended as the place to officially sign up for tournaments for online tournaments for Pokémon Black and White.
