Faraway place is a placeholder found in the Generation IV games. This location can appear when interacting with or getting Pokémon from third versions, (like Platinum, which have several new locations not found in the first games), or from games not from the main series (such as Pokémon Colosseum: specifically the location of Orre). Instead of the new place's (or region's from Generation III) name appearing, Faraway Place appears.

Faraway place is a placeholder found in the Generation IV games. This location can appear when interacting with or getting Pokémon from third versions, (like Platinum, which have several new locations not found in the first games), or from games not from the main series (such as Pokémon Colosseum: specifically the location of Orre). A Pokémon caught in a game taking place in another region (such as a Pokémon caught in Johto in HeartGold and SoulSilver traded to Diamond and Pearl, which take place in Sinnoh). Instead of the new place's (or region's from Generation III) name appearing, Faraway Place appears.

These new places in Platinum include the Distortion World (Giratina), Cynthia (Togepi egg) and the room in the Galactic Eterna Building accessed using the Secret Key, where Rotom can switch between its forms, ROTOM's Room.
