The Mysterious Crystal (Japanese: なぞのすいしょう Mysterious Crystal) is an event item obtainable via Wi-Fi in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. As no official translation has yet been released, it is also referred to as the Enigma Crystal.
The Mysterious Crystal is very similar to the Eon Ticket. Like the third generation event item, the Crystal will trigger the appearance of the Eon Pokémon not normally found in gameplay. In HeartGold, this is Latios; in SoulSilver, this is Latias.
If it is taken to the Pewter Museum of Science, traveling Pokémon Champion Steven Stone will examine the Crystal and discover that it is really the Soul Dew, an item native to his home region of Hoenn. After this brief encounter, depending on the game version, one of the twin birds will attack the player, presenting the opportunity for it to be captured. If the player is not sufficiently prepared, however, the Pokémon will flee from battle. It can then be found roaming the Kanto region.
These items are scheduled for distribution via Wi-Fi to the games from November 27, 2009 to January 11, 2010.
