The Basement Key (Japanese: ちかのカギ Basement Key) is a Key Item introduced in Generation II. There are two different Basement Keys in the games, one used in Generation II and its remakes, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, another in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, their follow-up, Pokémon Emerald.

Effect

Allows the player to access the basement of the Goldenrod Tunnel.

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald

Allows the player access into New Mauville.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the door is protected by a retinal scan instead.
