YTV is a TV channel owned by Corus Entertainment available nationally in Canada which launched September 1st, 1988. Its headquarters are in Toronto, Ontario. YTV is thought by many to stand for "Youth Television", due to the fact that its original slogan was "The Youth Channel". When asked about this, the channel states "Actually, it's just three letters! Really! Some folks think it means Youth Television, but that's just a coincidence; we just thought the letters looked good together!"[1] Pokémon is very well received by YTV's viewers.[2]

It is the Canadian broadcaster of the Pokémon anime. The channel has aired the anime since September 1998, from the first episode. Also, some movies get aired on weekends during Moovibot.

Current Pokémon Schedule

YTV's second logo, whcih debuted in September 2009. It usually appears in 3D.

Currently, YTV airs the Pokémon anime 7 times per week. Those airing are Pokémon Diamond & Pearl: Battle Dimension reruns during the weekdays and on Saturdays, Pokémon Diamond & Pearl: Galactic Battles.

History of Scheduling the Anime

When the anime debuted on YTV, it was airing weekdays at 4:00 PM. When The Adventures in the Orange Islands debuted in the US, YTV continued to air Indigo League episodes until Wherefore Art Thou, Pokémon? aired on Kids' WB!. Back around this time, Pokémon sometimes recieved blocks of "back to back to back to back" episodes. The first time this occured, the block was called, "Pokemainia".
