The C-Gear (Japanese: Cギア C-Gear) is a watch introduced in Pokémon Black and White used for various purposes. It is obtained in Sanyou City after assisting Fennel. It is the successor to the Pokégear in Johto, the PokéNav in Hoenn, and the Poketch in Sinnoh. While enabled, it maintains a list of players which are encountered using the DS's wireless capabilities, and various surveys can be conducted, which can lead to rewards at Castelia City.

Wireless

High Link

The C-Gear can be used to warp the player to the High Link, an area in the center of Unova, from most outdoor locations. Once there, the High Link Forest can be entered to befriend Pokémon from the Pokémon Dream World. Shining Powers can be activated at the Entrance Tree by using Shining Spheres, and players can venture into other nearby players' Unova regions, where the player is shown using their multiplayer avatar in a monochrome version of Unova. In another player's Unova, it is possible to use the lower screen to teleport to any city or town in the inner hexagon of the map and receive missions, which reward the player with Shining Spheres when successfully completed. Although Shining Spheres are available in the Dream World or via trading, the player must visit another player's Unova before the Entrance Tree is usable.

Live Caster

Main article: Live Caster

The Live Caster can be used to communicate with other players nearby using wireless, where up to 4 players can talk to each other using a radio-like system, and if they have a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL and camera function is not disabled, see each other. The Live Caster can also be used over Wi-Fi by selecting it at the Global Terminal in Pokémon Centers.

Wi-Fi

Game Sync

The C-Gear can be used to synchronize the save file of the game card to the Pokémon Global Link site, which provides access to the Dream World, in a procedure called the Game Sync. The player will be asked to select a Pokémon from their storage to put to sleep, which will then appear in the Global Link. A Pokémon may only be put to sleep once a day, and changing the DS clock or using the game in another DS will still result in needing to wait 24 hours before a Pokémon can be put to sleep again.

Infrared

Using a mixture of Infrared and wireless, trades, battles, Feeling Checks and swapping of Friend Codes are possible using the C-Gear. Battles use the player's current party. In a Feeling Check, players are shown how compatible they are. They also each receive an item.

Customization

The C-Gear may be customized in a number of ways. By touching the C-Gear logo on the top of the screen, the style of the icons can be changed. The arrangement of the icons may also be changed by touching the wrench icon, then spaces on the screen to change the function of the icon.

Wallpapers can be downloaded from the Global Link to further customize the C-Gear. Among these are themes featuring Pikachu, Minccino and Munna.
