Télétoon is a TV channel available nationwide in Canada which first hit the airwaves on September 8, 1997. The channel is based out of Montréal, Québec. The name is a combination of "télévision" (of course, television) and "cartoon", which is spelled the same way in French.

Télétoon is the French version of sister station of Teletoon. Télétoon airs most of the same programs as Teletoon, except all are in French.

Pokémon anime

Télétoon's logo from 1997-2005, including when the channel aired Pokémon. The accents are blended in with the "E"s, making the logo appropriate to be used for Télétoon and Teletoon.

The anime formerly aired on Télétoon during the late 90s and early 00s, but no longer does. Though YTV already had the anime available for Canadian audiences, Télétoon was given rights to air the French-dubbed version due to the fact that French is an official language in Canada (along with English)[1]. There was and still is demand, because French is the first language of 7,370,355 Canadians, with 4,141,850 of those being able to speak no other languages[2]. Pokémon movies still air on the channel.
