Trainer stars are stars placed on the trainer card for an achievement.
Kanto
In Kanto, trainer stars are awarded for:
- Defeating the Elite Four and Champion
- Obtain all 150 Pokémon from the Kanto dex
- Completion of the National Dex, with the exception of Mew, Celebi, Jirachi and Deoxys
Hoenn
In Hoenn, trainer stars are awarded for:
- Defeating the Elite Four and Champion
- Winning the Master Rank in all Contests
- Winning 100 times in a row at the Battle Tower
- Obtaining every Pokémon in the Hoenn Dex except for Deoxys and Jirachi
Sinnoh
In Sinnoh, trainer stars are awarded for:
- Defeating the Elite Four and Champion
- Collecting 50 flags in the Underground
- Obtaining data on all Pokémon in the National Dex excluding Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus
- Winning the Master Rank in any Contest
- Winning 100 consecutive matches at the Battle Tower
Also, gaining four trainer stars in Sinnoh will make all Pokémon Center nurses address the player by their name.
