Prism Star cards are a card variant found in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. They were first introduced in the Ultra Prism expansion. Prism Star cards feature the symbol next to the card title.
Prism Star cards have black borders and various areas of the card design have rainbow tinges added to them, such as the corners of the attack text box and character window. The background of the card text area also features the symbol reminiscent of Necrozma's back of its tail. The artwork for Prism Star cards always shows the subject with a glow, which is usually but not always fire-like.
The Prism Star rule, contained within a Rule Box, says that players cannot have any duplicate copies of a Prism Star card in their deck. However, the symbol is part of the card's name, so one player can have 4 Volcanion cards and 1 Volcanion card in the same deck. Additionally, the Prism Star rule also says when a Prism Star card would otherwise go the discard pile, it goes to the Lost Zone instead. Since cards can never leave the Lost Zone and only one copy of a Prism Star card can be in a deck, this usually means that a Prism Star card can only be played once per game.
In Lost Thunder, Prism Star Stadium cards are introduced. These cards have a shared effect which protects them from the effects of Item cards and Supporter cards. As such, the only way to remove these Stadium cards from play is through playing a different Stadium card or using the effect of an attack, Pokémon Power, or Ability.
