Friend Guard (Japanese: フレンドガード Friend Guard) is an Ability introduced in Generation V.
Effect
In battle
Friend Guard reduces the damage that other allied Pokémon receive (from any combatant) by 25%. It does not reduce the damage dealt by moves that deal direct damage. Friend Guard stacks multiplicatively, though due to the nature of it only applying to other allies, this can only ever occur in Triple Battles. If two Pokémon with Friend Guard are on the same side of the field in a Triple Battle, damage received by the third allied Pokémon is multiplied by 9/16 (a damage reduction of 43.75%). This multiplicative damage reduction would therefore only apply to a Pokémon with this ability if all three Pokémon on one side of the field have it.
Outside of battle
Friend Guard has no effect outside of battle.
