Forretress (Japanese: フォレトス Foretos) was the first Pokémon aquired by Brock in Johto, and his fifth altogether.
He caught it as a Pineco near Azalea Town with one of Kurt's Fast Balls while trying to pick Apricorns.
Later in the journey, it evolved at a Hot Spring while trying to save a herd of wild Pokémon from Team Rocket.
Forretress had some character development. As a Pineco, it was very surly and tempermental and tended to blow itself up, ususally Brock along with it.
After it evolved into a Forretress, it seemed to like Brock better, and began to act loyal. After Brock gave Jiroo most of his Pokémon, Forretress was the only Pokémon Brock took with him to Hoenn.
