- I did. I posted about it on the forums too. --GuyPerfect (talk) 15:30, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
Snatch
I know you haven't been active on the wiki for 7 years now and probably will never read this, but I did want to thank you for all the research you've done on Snatch - you've made my life as a mechanics researcher a lot easier. Cazenovia (talk) 04:09, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- Surprise, it sent me an email! Happy to help. I remember the day quite clearly: I was between jobs and loaded up on Smeargles, testing every scenario on every game (I was collecting them at that time). I was most intrigued by the way it handled Swallow, as even if the user is not under the effects of Stockpile it still recovers HP. It was also evident during the experimentation that even though the graphics stuff all got updated with the newer games, it seems the battle system has been iterating on the same code base since Gen III. --GuyPerfect (talk) 17:59, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
Pokémon BW Map Images
Hi! I saw that you uploaded the image for maps like "Giant Chasm" for Pokémon BW and your images are literally the highest quality map images of Pokémon BW on the internet. I cannot replicate the quality for the life of me with tools like CTRMap. In case you ever see this, would you be willing to share how you achieved making these screenshots / map images? Thank you! --Palex00 (talk) 13:49, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello there! These images were made using a modified emulator that causes the games to use an orthographic projection at all times. This was used in conjunction with a walk-through-walls cheat to take several screenshots of each area and edit them together to form large mosaics. Consequently, in-game elements such as NPCs and items can be captured this way. Further information (and a download of the modded emulator) can be found at this Jul thread and this VGMaps thread. I don't have the walk-through-walls code anymore, but I recall it was an Action Replay thing I found online (different for each of the four games). --GuyPerfect (talk) 14:53, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
