Montgomery's Throh (Japanese: マサオミのナゲキMasaomi's Nageki) is the only known PokémonMontgomery has on hand.
History
Throh and his rival, Sawk
Throh debuted in The Clubsplosion Begins! when Montgomery summoned him to show him off against Stephan's Sawk to prove his superiority over Stephan's Pokémon. When he and Montgomery walked away, Throh bumps his shoulder into the Karate Pokémon's, causing the latter to become angry. But his Trainer calms him down and Montgomery and Throh leave the scene.
In Search for the Clubultimate!, Throh and Montgomery watch as Stephan and Sawk help Ash and his Scraggy with their training, and once they leave, Throh stops the moving punching bag that Sawk was training on and throws it, breaking the punching bag to bits. Later, Throh battles against Delbert's Mienshao in the first round of the Clubsplosion tournament, where Throh showcases his superior might by swiftly dodging all of Mienshao's attacks without being hit once before proceeding to easily knock it out with a combination of attacks. After the match, Throh and his Trainer lock eyes with Stephan and Sawk.
In A Clubsplosion of Excitement!, Throh was put up against Iris's Excadrill. He managed to easily block Excadrill's attacks and finished him by using Seismic Toss, knocking the Subterrene Pokémon out and eliminating Iris from the tournament. After seeing Iris worry about Excadrill, Throh bowed his head in an apologetic fashion. In the following episode, Throh battled Ash's Scraggy. Despite being hit by Scraggy's Leer, Throh was seemingly unaffected, even managing to terrify Scraggy by glaring back at him, causing the Shedding Pokémon to stumble back in fear. Subsequently, Throh proved to be too much for Scraggy to handle as Throh easily withstood Scraggy's attacks before swiftly knocking him out, advancing Montgomery to the finals.
Once the final round gets underway, Throh battles Sawk to determine the winner of the Clubsplosion tournament. Each time Throh attempted to use a throw attack on Sawk, he would always regain his posture before he would hit the ground. It seemed that Throh finally had Sawk with Bind but he was able to escape it by using Bulk Up followed by Close Combat. Throh tried using Seismic Toss in a last ditch effort to bring down Sawk. Though he escaped, both Pokémon crashed to the ground taking serious damage. Throh got back up first and was going to use Bind on the still downed Sawk. Responding to Stephan's encouragement, he managed to at least sit up with his back facing Throh. When he got too close Sawk turned around and unleashed one final Close Combat. Throh remained standing afterwards but Sawk bowed his head then turned around, knowing the match was over, and the Judo Pokémon fainted right afterwards, therefore ending the match and making Stephan the winner.
Personality and characteristics
Throh bowing to Iris and Excadrill
Much like his Trainer, Throh is incredibly confident in his skills and shares his species's norm of being a dedicated fighter and always taking a battle seriously. He quickly formed a rivalry with Stephan's Sawk during the Clubsplosion tournament, which started off quite heated as Throh intentionally, or not, bumped into Sawk as he and Montgomery walked past him and Stephan. Despite his seemingly antagonistic rivalry with Sawk, Throh is very honorable and respectful, bowing his head in an apologetic fashion to Iris and Excadrill after their battle once Throh noticed Iris's worry for her Pokémon.
From his first appearance, Throh immediately proved himself to be an incredibly tough Pokémon, easily destroying the punching bag that Sawk was training on by just throwing it, and helped Montgomery reach the finals of the tournament with ease, breezing through his competition without much effort. His toughness even allowed him to negate the effects of Scraggy's Leer as Throh was instead the one leaving Scraggy intimidated with his glare. Throh only met his match against Sawk in the finals, with the two Pokémon going head-to-head in a close battle that left the audience completely impressed, as they broke into applause in the middle of the match out of sheer respect for both Pokémon's performances.
