This page should redirect to Wo-Chien (Pokémon). It is the only case in which passing generic title-case of a Pokémon species name to a URL does not result in a redirect to the species. (Other non-alphabet cases all resolve correctly, eg: "Farfetch'd", "Walking Wake", "Porygon2", "Nidoran♀".) However it appears the ability to create the page as such is locked, is there someone else that could do it? Thenewdarling (talk) 10:35, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

The correct capitalization Wo-Chien correctly redirects to Wo-Chien (Pokémon) (as do Ting-Lu, Chien-Pao, and Chi-Yu), but the incorrect capitalizations don't (see Ting-lu, Chien-pao, and Chi-yu; and even Walking wake). → SuperPikaPool13 10:49, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm aware the capitalisations are incorrect, but it's helpful if, for example, you have a database of Pokémon names with no title case information, you can say "make this title case and link to bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/(name)_(Pokémon)" and it will resolve. It works for everyone except the Treasures of Ruin because generic title case doesn't treat a hyphen as a new word. If it's against some rule, nevermind 😅 Thenewdarling (talk) 10:58, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it really violates a rule, but generally the reason we don't have redirects for non-standard capitalizations is because the search bar ignores capitalizations and will return the correct page anyways. Do you know people who access pages on Bulbapedia through this title case redirect method, or is this just a hypothetical? Minibug (talk) 11:01, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Me 😳 haha. Other than that, no haha. Tho I assume other small web creators also link to Bulbapedia rather than try to recreate all of the info in there. That's a good point about the search box tho, I never thought of that! Maybe I can pass my field directly to the search box query URL :O Thenewdarling (talk) 11:05, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
You can use Special:Search/Wo-Chien, and it should solve the capitalization issues. → SuperPikaPool13 11:10, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I was just coming back to say I found Special:Search in the page source and that resolves casing and doesn't break anything :D haha Sorry about that! (I don't know if you want me to remove the equivalent points I raised on the other three, or if there's a way I can point them here for the resolution?) No worries, we can just delete the other pages. Would you mind if we deleted this one as well? We usually don't keep talk pages for pages that don't exist. On second thought, it would be more helpful if we move this to the talk page for Wo-Chien. Minibug (talk) 11:46, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sure! Whatever is most helpful 😊 Thenewdarling (talk) 12:18, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
