Talk:Pokémon in the Czech Republic

Move
Im gonna lump Pokémon in Turkey into this discussion as well, both countries have gone through official name changes, see [1] and here since their respective articles were made and these new names are reflective in most maps and other official materials so I would suggest we rename these two pages accordingly. 4iamking 16:40, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
- I don't see why Pokémon in North Macedonia was moved to its new name, but these two shouldn't be. I say the move is justified, unless these situations are different? Kikugi (talk) 04:35, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- North Macedonia is the common name for that country among English speakers. Czech Republic and Turkey would also be the common name for those countries. So North Macedonia is fine, but the other two should not be moved. Landfish7 09:50, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- Turkey admittedly is a bit more mixed but to say that "Czechia" isnt a common name feels false. Given that the name is used to describe rating zones and is also used in the press site and other news posts. For North Macedonia for what its worth TPCi still uses "Macedonia (Republic of)"... which is uh the wording that started their whole naming dilemma. 4iamking 12:32, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- When referring to real-world topics in descriptive titles, we generally use the common name used by English-language speakers, not the terminology used by official Pokémon sources. While some English speakers may use the term Czechia, the country is still most commonly referred to by its full name as the Czech Republic, which is also official and correct.
