Talk:List of Pokémon with form differences
Gender Variants & Basculin's "Regional" Form
- I've noticed this pages appears to include Gender variants that have drastic variations. I'm not necessarily against the idea but I do believe technically this doesn't really class as a new form (oinkologne or Basculegion for example). I think the solution here is to just removed the Gender variants from this list and if anyone want to keep them in, then they should be moved to a new section in the gender variants page which has a description along the lines of "These Pokémon have such large differences that they almost appear to be different forms however, this is not the case"
- Additionally Basculegion and it's pre-evolution Basculin have been grouped together. This is very odd to me as they are not only not the same Pokémon but, the means in which they have different forms are also completely different. Basculegion's "forms" are just gender variants while Basculin's are distinct forms,
Note:
- I understand the ambiguity of the white stripe but, it's called white stripe by every pokedex and while I understand it's occasionally referred to as a regional forms I believe the ambiguity on this distinction inherently makes it being a regional form not true as if it were, then it's likely that "fact" would have been conveyed much more clearly.
- It's also worth noting that if it where a regional form then there would be no reason to call it the white stripe form, we would just have red stripe, blue stripe and Hisuian forms. Silentscopz1 (talk) 14:59, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
- The gender forms included this article are acknowledged as separate forms by the Pokédex, unlike most other gender differences. Landfish7 15:41, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
- The gender differences for Meowstic, Indeedee, Basculegion, and Oinkologne are treated differently from other gender differences, they're considered separate forms by the Pokédex even in contexts where none of the other gender differences are (and I believe they're different forms in the games' code as well). The gender differences of Unfezant, Frillish, Jellicent, and Pyroar are often marketed similarly as though they were separate forms too but they are not treated as such in-game or in the Pokédex. (I wrote a section on the gender differences article about this.) However, I agree that Basculegion should have its own section separate from Basculin, as their form differences are completely unrelated. Hewer (talk) 17:20, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
"ghost" gender forms
Unfezant, Frillish, and Jellicent have additional "hidden" forms in the data for the female; im thinking these should probably be added to the list of technical forms (alongside mothim). 4iamking 22:09, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
