Is it worth listing the release information for the Viz 2nd edition? Zesty Cactus 18:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Volume 8

Can someone add the release date for the US edition of Volume 8 (August 3, 2010)? I've been trying to fiddle with it but just can't seem to get it. --HoennMaster 05:00, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

That big blue area in the column was what was probably messing you up. I've went ahead and added the listing.
Speaking of that big blue area in the column, now that volume 8 is finally making its way to America, is it really a good idea to keep it around? I think it might take an announcement for volume 9 or 10 for a consensus to really develop; if we get to an announcement for volume 11, I'd be for ditching big blue entirely by then...--Shiningpikablu252 05:09, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Chuang Yi

Chuang Yi's covers should be shown in addition to the covers for Viz's (lower quality) releases. --Shiny Noctowl 21:02, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe, but there's also a thing of using too much images and lower-quality? --CoolPikachu! 21:05, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Viz's version is lower quality because of the various translation mistakes. In their first new volume, they've already screwed up an easily translatable pun. --Shiny Noctowl 21:07, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, don't bring your hatred of VIZ's translation here. Both of them are good translations. --CoolPikachu! 21:08, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
If they weren't all "OMG JUS COPYY TEH GAMEZ !!!!!!1!!111" they could have done something similar to what Chuang Yi did in that scene. How many American kids do you think will know what "Nanyanen" means? --Shiny Noctowl 21:11, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, this is forums discussion. Anyways, I'll try to add the Japanese and English covers. --CoolPikachu! 21:14, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Missing Viz Releases

The Viz releases I added have been on the vizkids website for a good while now. Viz pre-allocated a release schedule and ISBNs for everything up to volume 29, they're just not linked from the series list. They're also on the Viz main site, but lack any of the release info. Just increase the product ids in the URL for their releases, and you will usually find the latest ones they've planned eg.:

I've asked around the various Pokemon forums. Those are not proof at all. I say wait until they are officially revealed. Ataro 05:40, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that's not really taking part in discussion, you took it elsewhere. And it matters not what random people in random forusm think.
They are listed on the official website. The volvumes are never officially revealed on time, or announced. Some are added late to the Viz website, long after their unofficial reveal/release, and some are added long before. In the case of Volume 1-14, this was added long ago and proved 100% correct. 15-29 was added around the same time the D/P/P series was announced, and it's no coincidence that the release schedule for it stops at the last volume before D/P/P showing a clear intent to release up to that point. This is official, and it's revealed in the same poor manner all Viz releases are. I've yet to read a single valid argument against it from you. --Zeal T / C 11:28, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, though, they are not even listed as clickable links on the website (is my understanding). For the longest time Arceus and the Jewel of Life (graphic novel) was listed on the website, with an ISBN, but no release date and it was eventually cancelled. Unfortunately, I need more information on the releases before I can accept them as official. Are these only listed hidden on the VIZKids website (I usually go by if anything) or are they actually shown anywhere else, like a third party such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble, etc? Plus, there is no cover artwork...
I wish VIZ would release the R&S chapter as much as the next guy, but i need more proof before i can add things like this to the wiki. Also note #15 has an October release date...if that was official, wouldn't it be out yet? --ZestyCactus 21:13, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
It's not really speculative at all, it just shows the planned release schedule and ISBN numbers, and that is fact. Clearly the release schedule they planned has changed, and I make no claims as to wether or not Viz will even release them, because as with anything, future release schedules can change, and things can get cancelled. This is likely what has happened, but it doesn't mean the ISBN numbers can not be used later and as far as i know, there is no requirement or implication that volumes listed here are released or 100% will be, only that a publisher plans to release them. It's not like this is some fake rumor, this is simply Viz showing they intend/intended to release them, and unless otherwise stated, they will at some point. They are on the normal Viz website, but without any info (invalid product codes take you to the home page, while valid hidden ones load the product page, but the info likely isn't on them yet, is the case with these). The date for release is official, but things change, and Viz are terrible at keeping their website working (let alone up to date). The B/W series listing doesn't even exist on their site, you have to find the indivual issues yourself or through their news, and many of the older olvumes and current, don't even have their cover artwork uploaded until after it appears elsewhere, and sometimes even after release. So again, I've yet to see any real argument against this. If this list is to require secondary sources eg. amazon as proof of existance, then just state as much, otherwise it's as official as any Viz release can ever get before it appears elsewhere, so just because apprently the community didn't realise they were already planned for release a while back, and the current community thinking is that those chapters won't to be released anytime soon, doesn't mean the ooopinions of the community has any say in the matter. --Zeal T / C 21:52, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Where are you not seeing the B&W chapter? i found it on both and viz kids website in like 5 seconds. I guess my point is, what point is there listing this information if it's so uncertain? And how official is a release date that has passed and has had no book exist...? i'm also not sure where you're getting the facts that VIZ's website is unreliable for release information, since while i have found Amazon generally gets detailed book information before they put it on their own site, all the pages look up to date to me. Anyway, I'm not putting this on the page unless I can believe these actually exist. I wrote to VIZ earlier this afternoon so hopefully we can get this cleared up for real in another day or two. Otherwise, the most I think is needed is a footnote on the respective chapter/volume pages, only if they are confirmed as cancelled (again, see Arceus and the Jewel of Life, the cancelled book isn't listed in the infobox as if it's a real book or future book, just a footnote in trivia as a cancelled translation). There is no point in listing release dates and ISBN information as solid facts when it's unconfirmed, speculative, etc. I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that the release schedule is planned this far ahead - I recall that the books generally aren't (in)formally announced for real on the release schedule more than two or at the most three ahead. This honestly looks like placeholder/projective pages made at the beginning of the project to me. Anyway, i am hoping to hear from VIZ soon (i have written to them before and gotten replies within less than a week) --ZestyCactus 04:32, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, if you notice, the placeholder release date for #15 is about two months after #14 was released. since the books were coming out in two-months-at-a-time intervals, makes sense if they made a bunch of pages way in advance and just projected release dates two months apart. that is just my own speculation though. --ZestyCactus 04:35, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Of course it's most likely it's been put on hold indefinitely, but the ISBNs exist, and those are only registered when there is clear intent (past or current) to publish, and that intent is well worth documenting. I think a much better solution would be to put TBA for all releases dates on those issues, with the the documented ones in brackets (as i did for the first one), and have a sentance at the top explaining that is unknown if Viz plan to follow through with the series as of yet.
As to the quality of viz websites:
  • is missing the series page for B&W, with the link to it pointing only at the home page.
  • Nethier and are showing volume 5 (on amazon already) and 6 (not on amazon yet) of D/P/P in the series list, but as is always the case, has the full release information for these on their unlinked product pages, while also has these pages, but they contain no information other than containing the series info and linking back to the D/P/P series from them.
  • The above has been the case in the past for pretty much all volumes and series, and is the same for Volume 15-29 of the original series.
  • is missing the cover for D/P/P volume 4, yet it is on and amazon.
The difference with me is, I don't think being included in the list, means it's a confirmed projected release time table. This is a wiki, and the list should be for documenting the products planned existance, and it's clear it was planned to exist at some point. All arguments against their existance are purely speculative, while their registration as an ISBN product, and therefore planned existance, is irrefutable and a fact, even if they've changed their mind since.
I'd also like to point out you removed D/P/P volume 6 from the list in undoing my changes. I can apperciate your disbelief at the earlier chapters getting released, but in this case it's a current ongiong series, and so the only reason to claim removal from the list, is that you're indicating that all releases must be verified by a seconary source such as amazon before they can appear here, which is silly, considering amazon usually has the listing after the primary source (viz) has it on their unlinked pages, yet before (viz) have it on their linked pages. It's like not being sure if you did something, and then asking someone else about it, and taking their answer as fact regardless of what the truth is... --Zeal T / C 16:33, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

The D/P/P vol. 6 release I had added turned out to be right, but to avoid this argument again, I'll just add the listing for vol. 7 on here instead [1] I'm still crawling the site for more, so will post if I find anything else. --Zeal T / C 12:37, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

I don't believe this has been announced yet, but Viz Kids appear to be planning to release box sets for the chapters over the next few months, each with a posters included:

Pokemon Adventures Box Set
Pokemon Adventures Red & Blue Box Set
Pokemon Adventures Gold & Silver Box Set
Pokemon Black and White Box Set
(Implies the 8 volumes are the entire series?)

The absence of D/P/P (so far), is likely because they haven't finished enough of it yet. --Zeal T / C 13:19, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, yes. That's been known for a while. Ataro (talk) 13:33, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, I've never seen an announcement (not that I would know where one exist) or mention on here...
Seems product codes stop at 10491 for now, so done for a few months. --Zeal T / C 13:37, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Huh ... if I'm not mistaken the volume 15 to 29 I listed before, have all had release dates updated for next year, and even one of them has a full description now. --Zeal T / C 23:53, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Seems to stop again after 10778. Findings:

Pokémon Adventures: Diamond and Pearl/Platinum, Vol. 9
Pokémon Adventures: Diamond and Pearl/Platinum, Vol. 10
Should probably be added to the wiki.
Pokémon Black and White, Vol. 9
Pokémon Black and White, Vol. 10
Pokémon Black and White, Vol. 12
Pokémon Black and White, Vol. 13
Seems B&W chapter has some more rounds to go.
Pokémon Adventures: Black and White, Vol. 1
Pokémon Adventures: Black and White, Vol. 2
Not sure what these are, perhaps they plan to release the smaller formats in the regular format afterwards?
Pokémon Adventures: Heart Gold Soul Silver, Vol. 1
Pokémon Adventures: Heart Gold Soul Silver, Vol. 2
Looks like HG/SS chapters are coming soon too.

Shogakukan's first edition

Some information is different acording to the volumes I have. For instance, it is said that the first volume's edition was released on September 25th, not on August 8th

The same with some other volumes. Should I modify the information? (Yes, I am sorry, but I am new in Bulbapedia)- unsigned comment from Xavier N°1 (talkcontribs)
