FRLG/LGPE

I'm not sure if we should consider the Trainer from Kanto (FRLG/LGPE) as the same character. Since this article focuses on PokeSpe, the manga character clearly represents the Hoenn Swimmer. Maxim (talk) 18:39, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Hidenori Kusaka himself claimed that the RSE and FRLG Trainers are supposed to be the same character when he was asked about Jack in Netkun Q&A No. 156, so I'd say it's pretty clear-cut, at least for the FRLG appearance. LGPE complicates things a bit, as his party got completely revamped, breaking the Staryu→Starmie connection. Maty93 (talk) 19:22, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

I did some digging found that Jack has the same name in both English and Japanese in all games, with most other languages also using the same name for them. Something I found particularly interesting was that his name is the same in all languages in FRLG and Emerald, with some localizations changing his name from RS so that it matched the FRLG Swimmer's. That seems to support the idea that the intent, at least back in Gen III, was for them to be the same character. Storm Aurora (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
