Talk:Gary's Electivire

Electabuzz...?

Is it me, or didn't Gary have an Electabuzz at one point? If so, wouldn't it be more logical to say that it probably evolved rather than Gary having caught Electivire in the wild? Maybe it is just me... β0 08:18, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't revelaed whether Gary caught it as an Electabuzz.--Force Fire talk 08:20, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
If Gary ever had an Electabuzz, I doubt it would have escaped our rabid anime fans' notice for this long. If you really think he had one, find the episode to cite as your source. --((Marton imos)) 08:26, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Interesting, I thought he did. So I guess it was my random mind after all... β0 08:28, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notability

All right everyone, after checking section 3 of this policy, do any of you still think Electivire deserves its own page? Its only major role was its debut, where it sent Team Rocket blasting off and defeated Pikachu. Its other two appearances weren't any more than background supporting roles. Electivire had a major impact on the plot. It was the source through which Ash learned about the unique Pokémon in the Sinnoh region, had a very notable battle, played an important role in all of its appearances which were more than just a "background supporting role". So, I see no reason to question its notability. AdynizWanna talk? 05:55, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Um, what? It made only three appearances (at least thus far, but I doubt Gary would ever use it again), and the only part of its history which is a reasonable size was its battle with Team Rocket and Pikachu, and battling doesn't contribute to a Pokémon's notability. Also, what major impact did it have on the plot? GamerGeek 06:35, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ash learned about the unique Pokémon in the Sinnoh region after seeing Electivire for the first time, that is the first major plot impact. In DP045, Electivire was the one who helped out in protecting Shieldon, the featured Pokémon. It battled against Saturn's Toxicroak in DP151, fought for the Lake guardians and it helped in stopping Hunter J on a few occasions as well. These appearances are more than enough to keep this article. AdynizWanna talk? 06:47, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok, those are all good points, I'm not necessarily saying that it should be deleted, and it's at least more notable than say, Paul's Magmortar and Trip's Conkeldurr (both of which, for the record, might actually have to be deleted, but I'll save those discussions for later). I brought this up for Electivire first because Gary's the first main rival of the series, and my personal definition of notability for these articles is whether you can say more about them than can go in the trainer's article and/or the anime section of the species articles. Electivire's article is pretty short, and I could easily condense it and place all the info in Gary's page. GamerGeek 07:26, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
So, can we reach a general consensus? I'll understand it if others want this page to stay, but I'm personally on the fence with this one. GamerGeek 06:08, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
As the head of Project Anime, I say it has enough reason to stay here. Magmotar and Conkeldurr as well. --ケンジガール 06:18, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
All right then (but shouldn't we discuss Magmortar and Conkeldurr on their pages?). GamerGeek 06:38, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
No, it has already been discussed a lot of times in the past. They are notable without a doubt, as Kenji said above. AdynizWanna talk? 08:21, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
