Talk:Filler episode

Latest comment: 31 March by Thespeon in topic About Chespin's evolutions episodes

I suggest that separate articles for "Filler episode" and "Filler arc" be created. In crafting the definitions, I found the distinction to be significant (for instance, an episode where someone captures a Pokemon or a relationship changes is not normally a Filler episode; so "Snack Attack," where Ash captures Snorlax, and "Charizard Chills," where Charizard...uh...chills, are not technically Filler episodes, even if they are episodes in a Filler arc).

Then again, you may decide that my definitions are crap and throw all the changes out! ;-) Although I hope if you do, you add another definition...describing what a Filler episode is used for is not the same thing as describing what it is. ShinyAeon 17:37, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Guys, we really should remove the part that says that Johto was one of the main reasons why the show was in a decline in Johto. It's unnecessary, it's fanwank, and it really doesn't belong overall. I had to remove a similar edit on The Johto Journeys artice, and I'd do it myself, but the page is protected so I can't do it. Weedle Mchairybug 03:32, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

How

I kinda wanna know how filler can be applied to any Pokémon episode. I always thought the term filler meant any episode or arc in an anime that did not follow manga chapters, in which case, the entire Pokémon anime could be called filler, or so I think. So I'm confused.--Darknesslover5000 23:59, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Um

Do we really need this article? Pokemon doesn't follow the manga so the term "filler" doesn't really apply in this case. Filler is subjective as well, what is filler to some might not be so to others. Not to mention, this page is riddled with fanwank... J-J-M 04:20, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't mind the article, per se, but I think the references to Naruto and Sailor Moon are unnecessary. This IS a Pokémon Wiki, after all... -- Nick15 08:52, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

About Pokemon Journeys The Series

It seem like It does have some filler episode but "Pokémon Journeys The Series has almost no filler" would confuse me on why some episodes are filler episodes. So can Someone edit it to correct this? --Cool Sam (talk) 19:19, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

How is EP008 Filler?

Looking at the "Major Events" section of the episode's page on Bulbapedia, Jessie's Ekans reveals a new move and so does Meowth. Also, Ash learns of a new gym. Wouldn't that make it non-filler? I figured we would consider an episode filler if it had nothing in the "Major Events" section. Torpoleon (talk) 00:19, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

About Chespin's evolutions episodes

Hey so I think XY095 098 and 108 may be filler episodes cuz their only purposes are making Quilladin and Chesnaught appear in Anipoké... Greninja and Delphox actually do something in the storyline, with Ash's Frogadier evolving cuz of Sanpei's Greninja and Serena's Fennekin evolving cuz of Ariana's Delphox... Idk if I'm just doing my thing as a Chesnaught diehard or I have a point 😓⁉️ RoideKalos (talk) 11:54, 31 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think by the definition we have here of "nothing happens to affect the progress of the long-term story arcs or to develop the main characters, and no returning side characters, or other significant persons (other than the main characters), appear", XY098 and XY108 appear to be so (though XY098 had Pokémon debuts), but XY095 is listed in Timeline of events in Pokémon the Series: XY since Eevee showed it learned a new move and Professor Sycamore was told about Squishy.
