Air date

Wait, did this episode air on January 1, 1999? That was... a Friday. Unless they didn't want to do one on December 31? Anyone know? TTEchidna 04:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Banned in South Korea???

Er, any reason why this episode is banned in South Korea? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 17:45, 26 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't see why it would've been banned in South Kotea. Any confirmation about this ban? 17:02, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it was banned for the same reasons all the other banned episodes in Korea were: because it depicted heavy Japanese themes, namely Jeanette Fishers outfit, and the way she made her entrance at the beginning of the match. TheFatPanda (talk) 17:29, 14 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

James's Victreebel

Doesn't this mark the third appearance, not the second, of James's Victreebel? First in The Breeding Center Secret, next in All Fired Up (briefly, in an attempt to extinguish Meowth) , and then this episode? --Scottyghost 06:58, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Error

Just after pikachu uses thunderbolt on bellsprout the zig-zag mark is missing from under one of Ash's eyes.Angel10698 23:42, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I made sure this is true, then added it to the errors section. Nice catch! ;) HarmonytheRocketEeveon (talk) 22:55, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Re: Japanese "Who's That Pokemon?" screen appearing in some dub airings

I have an old VHS recording of the episode from when it aired on CITV in the UK in early 2000. The error does, indeed, appear during this airing. Sadly, I lack the means to upload the clip online, and I know me simply claiming it to exist is not enough, so all I can say is, to anyone reading this: if you've also seen this error and, better yet, can provide physical proof of its existence, please come forward! Scyther's "Swift"

About Scyther's Swift attack, how come the one used by that Pokemon owned by Jeanette during her battle with Ash looked different from the actual Swift attack (which was basically a barrage of stars)? And for context, that move was error-dubbed as a Quick Attack. jlog3000 17:40, 16 May 2026 (UTC) jlog3000 17:40, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

It's early on in the animated series, so may be an inconsistency in the move on the original animation's side too. Hard to know for certain, but to me it doesn't really look like any other attack either, so possibly an artistic interpretation on Swift. Thespeon (talk) 21:02, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
