Hyper Beam

Hi everyone, I am new here and do not yet know how to edit the pages well so I will just place my suggestion here.

In Clefable's Generation 1 learnset, Hyper Beam has been left out for some reason when Clefable can definitely learn TM15 (Hyper Beam). Was that overlooked for a reason? Does Clefable still get STAB from Hyper Beam?

Thanks to anyone who takes up the job of adding/looking into this. JJFitzy3 18:22, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

It seems to have been an oversight, because Clefable can learn it. Cheers~ --P S Yライダー 18:36, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to bother again but there was a typing slip when adding Hyper Beam to the Gen 1 learnset. I believe the accuracy should be 90%, not 190%. JJFitzy3 19:00, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rosy Maple Moth? (Mega Clefable)

Mega Clefable's silhouette resembles a winged acorn, possibly playing on "wingnut." Its beret-like hair and ears also resemble a hollow wingnut fastener, used in various instruments, connecting to the line's musical theme. Maple samaras, which the rosy maple moth (Dryocampa rubicunda) mimics, are also called wingnuts. Furthermore, acorns grow on oak trees, and dryo means oak. (Wingnut fasteners are also called butterfly nuts, and moths are sometimes called "night butterflies.") Pixie, the origin of Clefable's Japanese name, is also related to the Cornish pisgy, which were said to be spirits of the departed manifesting as moths.

The acorn likeness could also nod to the mochi made by the moon rabbit in Asian folklore, believed to have been traditionally made from acorns. Its hair could also reference both the odango hairstyle (single bun variant) and the Tsukimi dango eaten during Japan's moon festival.

Extra: I found one Japanese page referring to the rosy maple moth as the "pink mountain moth." Seems to be a more recent invention, but Clefable does live in the mountains. Icycatelf (talk) 21:48, 23 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Credit to Fmon.Project for making the initial winged acorn + wingnut connection. Icycatelf (talk) 22:08, 23 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Seems like too much strings-on-corkboard theorizing for me. While wingnuts are part of instruments, they're not what you'd use to produce sound (just to fasten everything in place); plus Mega Clefable doesn't at all look like a wingnut. Mega Clefable wearing a fashionable beret/crown seems like a sufficient enough explanation to me. ~ Anzasquiddles ~ 2222(:D)SSSS (talk) 08:08, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
