Garchomp (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Garchomp's appearance may be based on a combination of a {{wp|wyvern}}, various species of sharks (including the {{wp|hammerhead shark|hammerhead}}), and possibly a {{wp|Dromaeosauridae|dromaeosaurid}} or other {{wp|Therapoda|theropod}} dinosaur. In particular, considering Garchomp's saurian build with shark-like features, it may be a visual play on the ''{{wp|Carcharodontosaurus}}'', a theropod dinosaur whose name means "shark-toothed lizard". Its design also strongly resembles a {{wp|jet aircraft}} what explains its ability to fly. The star on its head may allude to sharks like {{wp|starspotted smooth-hound}} or {{wp|starry smooth-hound}}.

Mega Garchomp's skull-like head and scythe arms may be based on typical depictions of the {{wp|Grim Reaper}}.
