In ''[[Pokémon Journeys: The Series]]'', Diantha is revealed to be one of the top eight [[Pokémon Trainer]]s in the {{pkmn|world}} within the [[World Coronation Series]], currently being ranked fifth.

As revealed in ''[[XY039|Summer of Discovery!]]'', Diantha participated at the [[Pokémon Summer Camp]] when she was younger and her Gardevoir was a {{p|Ralts}}, as she worked together with two other young Trainers. During the days that they participated, Diantha and her friends managed to enter the Pokémon Summer Camp Hall of Fame, which served as an inspiration to the other Trainers who participated in this event.

Years later, she starred in a movie titled "{{DL|Movies in the Pokémon world|My Sweet, Sweet Lady}}". This film was a huge box office success and established Diantha as a renowned actress in the region. Over the years, Diantha and her Ralts' bond grew stronger and stronger, as her partner evolved into {{p|Kirlia}}, and then into {{TP|Diantha|Gardevoir}}. One day, during filming of a movie, Diantha ended up getting lost from the film crew, which caused {{p|Gardevoir}} to get out of her own [[Poké Ball]] and go in search of her Trainer. From that day on, Diantha and Gardevoir became more united. Eventually, Diantha became the [[Champion]] of the [[Kalos League]], which made several Trainers decide to challenge her to battle.

Diantha debuted in ''[[XY028|The Bonds of Evolution!]]'', where she was shown having an exhibition {{pkmn|battle}} against {{OBP|Magnus|XY028}}. With her Gardevoir, Diantha had very little trouble in defeating her opponent's {{p|Absol}} where it was shown she could direct her partner through mere eye contact. {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} later encountered Diantha in disguise, trying to get a piece of chocolate cake from a shop. She agreed to have a battle with Ash, but the battle between {{AP|Pikachu}} and Gardevoir was soon interrupted by {{TRT}}, who caught the Embrace Pokémon and took it away. With the guidance of Diantha's Key Stone, Ash and his friends were able to find Team Rocket. Diantha then Mega Evolved her Gardevoir into Mega Gardevoir, easily breaking out of its confinement and sending the Rocket trio blasting off again.

She appeared again in a flashback in ''[[XY140|Till We Compete Again!]]'' in a retrospective of Ash's journey through Kalos.

Diantha, along with her Gardevoir, appeared on a television screen during a news broadcast about the [[World Coronation Series]] in ''[[JN103|The Future is Now, Thanks to Strategy!]]''.

In [[JN122]], Diantha faced Leon in the semifinals of the Masters Tournament. However, despite her best efforts, Diantha was defeated by the [[Galar]] Champion. In the [[JN123|next episode]], Diantha talked to Cynthia about the [[Sinnoh]] Champion's future after the competition ends. Later, Diantha watched Ash's battle against Cynthia along with Leon backstage. In [[JN125]], after the battle's conclusion, Diantha spoke with Cynthia regarding her previous decision and she told the Champion of Kalos that she had reconsidered the idea of retiring from battling.

Diantha is a powerful Trainer and well-respected in the [[Kalos]] region. Her abilities as a Trainer allow her to easily overpower veteran Trainers like {{Ash}} and {{OBP|Magnus|XY028}}, even in conditions where they have a large type advantage. Her affinity with Gardevoir is so great that Diantha can command moves with just gestures and looks, without the need to say actions during battle. In her [[Masters Tournament]] campaign, Diantha adopted a more strategic stance, using a variety of support and defense techniques to overcome her opponents' advantages. This guaranteed Diantha a victory over {{an|Lance}}, a finalist from the previous season of the [[World Coronation Series]].
