It is a cup for low leveled Pokémon, specifically those from Level 15 to Level 20. The sum of the levels of the three Pokémon chosen cannot be more than 50. Technically, all Pokémon except for {{p|Mewtwo}} and {{p|Mew}} are eligible to enter. However, getting strong Pokémon at that low of a level can get quite complicated. While some are catchable at low levels in certain versions (e.g. Level 15 {{p|Dragonair}} in {{v|Yellow}}), others are more complex and involve trading across the in-game trainers and the different versions. Interestingly, as many of these involve the Yellow version, its naming after that game's [[version mascot]], {{p|Pikachu}} may have had more than one point to it.

==Tradebacks==

Many Pokémon from Generation I that previous appeared exclusively at level 21 or higher can be obtained at low levels in Generation II and then traded to a Generation I game to be used in the Pika Cup. Also, the inclusion of Generation II tradebacks lowers the "Lowest Level Usable" for some Pokémon. The following list shows every Pokémon not previously available or with a lower minimum level:
