Plus Moves (Japanese: ワザプラス Plus Move) are the signature mechanic of Pokémon Legends: Z-A that boost the power of any moves they are used on, and are comparable in power to the strong style from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Mechanic
Plus Moves are usable after obtaining the Mega Ring, following Main Mission 9.
Upon use, Plus Moves use one gauge of Mega Energy if the move is successfully executed.
A Plus Move can be activated by pressing the + button while selecting a move. These moves do significantly more damage to Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon. Any move used by a Mega Evolved Pokémon will be a Plus Move, and will not use a gauge of Mega Energy when executing said move. Plus Moves can hit through protection. Status moves upgraded to Plus Moves have their effects enhanced or extended.
Only moves with a Plus Move mark can be used as Plus Moves.
A move learned by a Pokémon can be upgraded to a Plus Move in two ways;
- If the Pokémon naturally learns the move, it will become a Plus Move at a later level.
- If the Pokémon only learns the move through a TM, the move can be upgraded to a Plus Move by talking to Josée at the Justice Dojo, in exchange for a Seed of Mastery after defeating Josée at the start of Main Mission 19.
