Quaxly (Japanese: クワッス Kuwassu) is a Water-type Basic Pokémon card. It was first released as part of the Surging Sparks expansion.

Release information
This card was included in the Surging Sparks expansion, first released in the Japanese Paradise Dragona subset. A Parallel Holofoil version of the Surging Sparks print with a Pokémon Horizons: The Series stamp in the bottom right corner of the artwork was released as part of a campaign celebrating the animated series and the launch of the Surging Sparks expansion. Between November 8 and December 8, 2024, customers in the United States and Canada would receive a copy of this variant and a copy of a Pokémon Horizons stamped Terapagos with TCG purchases worth at least $15 from each country's Pokémon Center online store when using the respective code "quaxlycardus" or "quaxlycardca" at checkout.[1][2]
In Japan, this card was reprinted as an M-P Promotional card and was distributed as part of a McDonald's campaign. Customers who purchased a Pokémon Happy Meal at participating restaurants would receive a 2-card Promo Card Pack that contained an exclusive alternate-art Pikachu card and one random reprint selected from the following: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Ralts, and Riolu. The M-P Promotional print features the McDonald's logo.
Although the McDonald's Pokémon campaign began on August 8, 2025 and ran throughout the month, the Promo Card Pack distribution was limited to the public holiday weekend of August 9, 10, and 11.[3] The McDonald's Japan webpage for the promotion requested people purchase no more than five Happy Meals per day in order for them to reach as many children as possible. It also requested people refrain from purchasing for the intention of resale and other commercial purposes and ordering more than they could eat.[4] Despite this, the popularity of the campaign caused many restaurants to run out of stock within the first day, prompting McDonald's Japan to issue an apology.[5] The handling of the promotion, the behavior of individuals, and the quantity of discarded orders gained traction on social media and the attention of numerous media outlets.[6][7] McDonald's Japan subsequently issued another response that detailed the possible imposition of stricter purchase limits with certain Happy Meal promotions; restricting mobile ordering and delivery; and refusing purchases from customers attempting to purchase in excess of limits, repeatedly lining up, or behaving in an intimidating manner toward staff. They also announced discussions with flea market app operators were ongoing in attempt to curb resale activities by certain customers.[8]
