(Japanese: ポケットモンスターダイヤモンド・パール レジギガス()(かく)(だい)(さく)(せん)!! Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl: Regigigas Major Capture Operation!!) is a one-shot manga by Makoto Mizobuchi based on Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It was published in the April 2007 issue of Bessatsu CoroCoro Comics Special, released on February 28, 2007. It is 35 pages long.

Plot

In Snowpoint City, a young boy named Kaito ventures to the bottom of the Snowpoint Temple to capture the Legendary Pokémon Regigigas. Kaito enters and attempts to challenge Regigigas, but it does not respond, forcing him to leave empty-handed and with a cold due to the freezing temperature of the Snowpoint Temple. Kaito visits his friend Yuki for advice, and after she lightly lectures him for entering the frigid Snowpoint Temple without knowledge on how to capture Regigigas, she suggests they visit Professor Rowan for advice.

At his lab, Professor Rowan explains that Regigigas used to be worshipped along with the Pokémon it created from ice, rock and steel. Professor Rowan believes that Regigigas may awaken if the three forces of Regirock, Regice and Registeel are gathered before it. Kaito announces that he owns Regirock, and Yuki says she owns Registeel. From nearby, another boy, Kento announces that he has caught Regice. Impatient, Kento heads off to Snowpoint Temple to awaken Regigigas. At the entrance of the temple, Yuki is slightly scared to enter, while Kento is raring to go, believing that the three of them should be able to take on Regigigas. Unlike the first encounter, Kaito is now feeling nervous at the prospect of battling the Legendary Pokémon.

Reaching the bottom of the Snowpoint Temple, the three bring out Regirock, Regice and Registeel. Regigigas initially does not react, making them think Rowan's advice is incorrect, until it awakens and splits the floor with a powerful roar. While Kaito is alright, Yuki and Kento get caught in the attack and are left hanging for their lives on pieces of rubble where they would otherwise be swallowed by the crack created by Regigigas. Kento shouts that Kaito will have to either catch or defeat Regigigas, telling him to hurry as they cannot hold on much longer.

To stop Regigigas from hitting the floor again, Kaito sends out his Infernape and commands it to use Mach Punch where it evenly clashes with Regigigas's own punch. Kaito commands a Flamethrower which melts the icy floor, creating steam to blind Regigigas so that Infernape can unleash a barrage of Mach Punches to slowly whittle its health down, earning the praise of Kento and Yuki. Kaito throws a Poké Ball to capture Regigigas but it is too healthy for it to work. Not giving up, Kaito throws many more at Regigigas which all have the same effectiveness as the first one, failing to capture the Colossal Pokémon. Kaito questions how it can take so much damage, yet remain strong enough to resist capture.

Regigigas lets out a second roar, leading Kento to observe it has gotten stronger. It unleashes a powerful attack on Infernape, and Kaito runs to its side in worry. Kaito realises that Regigigas's Ability must be Slow Start, as it needed time before it could show its true power. Commanding another Flamethrower to trap Regigigas, Kaito advises Infernape to jump to the ceiling and kick off with all its strength to use an accelerated Mach Punch. Kaito's plan is successful but his confidence shifts to shock as Regigigas immediately recovers and hits Infernape back with a powerful strike. Kaito realizes with fear that one more attack will finish Infernape.

Suddenly, the ceiling began to crumble as large rocks fell from above. Concerned for Regigigas, Kaito orders Infernape to destroy the rocks with Flamethrower so it will not hurt it. Kento yells at Kaito's decision but he justifies it by explaining he and Infernape want to finish the battle fairly against Regigigas. Kento disagrees with the choice but nonetheless tells Kaito that if this is his choice, then he must absolutely win. Observing that both Regigigas and Infernape have taken a lot of damage, Kaito wants this attack to be his last. Kaito orders Infernape to unleash a powerful Flare Blitz which knocks down Regigigas. Kaito immediately throws a Poké Ball which successfully captures Regigigas.

Exiting the Snowpoint Temple, Kaito feels that his heart connected with Regigigas when he and Infernape were ready to end the battle after saving it, reflecting on today's events as he stares at Regigigas's Poké Ball. Leaving with a big smile, Kaito feels as though he has forgotten something—which is revealed to be Yuki and Kento still stuck in the basement of the Snowpoint Temple, dangling over the giant crack in the floor.
