Release information

This Frienda Pick was given away at participating locations with a Pokémon Frienda machine from November 23, 2024 as part of a tie-in with the animated series. Stock permitting, children of junior high school age and below that said "please give me a Frienda Pick!" to staff were given a copy of this Frienda Pick.[1]

It was later given away to visitors at Treasure Festival 2025 venues, which also hosted free Battle and Catch! mode trial sessions on Pokémon Frienda machines running the latest set, plus performances by the Frienda Navigators and a Captain Pikachu mascot. Visitors with a Trainer Pick could receive a Frienders Member ID Sticker, one of four possible Support Pokémon Tickets, and participate in a Frienda Navigator photo session. This giveaway was not age restricted. The festival was held at the Mori complex of ÆON LakeTown, Saitama on January 13, 2025 and at ÆON Mall Tsurumi Ryokuchi, Osaka on February 2, 2025.[2]

More distributions were conducted as part of the Coro Tour Spring 2025, which was held at ÆON Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa on March 30, 2025 and at ÆON Mall Kawaguchi on April 6, 2025. Visitors of any age could receive a copy of this Frienda Pick for as long as stocks lasted; they could also watch performances by the Frienda Navigators. Children of junior high school age and below participating in the CoroTour Spring 2025 Stamp Rally could try a free Battle and Catch! mode trial session on a Pokémon Frienda machine.[3]

It was given away again at the Kochi Anikuri Festival 2025, which was held at the Kochi Prefectural Gymnasium on April 5 and 6, 2025. Visitors of any age could receive a copy of this Frienda Pick and a Terapagos Frienda Pick for as long as stocks lasted. Visitors could also try a free Battle and Catch! mode trial session on a Pokémon Frienda machine running the latest set and watch performances by the Frienda Navigators.[4]

A lamé-treated, translucent gold version of this Frienda Pick was available as part of a gift campaign held in conjunction with the Japanese broadcast of HZ074 on November 22, 2024.[5] A campaign page went live on the TV Tokyo website following the broadcast, on which people could enter the keyword displayed during the episode. Correct answers were entered into a lottery to win one of fifty prize packages, which comprised a set of four exclusive Frienda Picks mounted in an acrylic frame and a copy of the Koraidon, Miraidon & Pikachu Treasure Pokémon Set. The entry period was open until the broadcast of HZ075 on November 29, 2024. Winners were scheduled to receive their prizes by the end of January 2025.[6]

Trivia

Origin

This Pikachu is based on Captain Pikachu, who belongs to Friede in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. Pikachu's in-game model wears a captain's hat; "キャプテンピカチュウ", Captain Pikachu is also present in the top left of the Frienda Pick's illustration. An image of Friede would appear in-game when Pikachu was selected to attack for the first time. Volt Tackle is a move that Pikachu used in the animated series and one it can learn in the games.
