New Moon Day

New Moon Day (Japanese: ニュームーンデー New Moon Day) is a monthly in-game event in Pokémon Sleep. A New Moon Day event runs for three days, namely the days before, during, and after a new moon. If a player tracks their sleep during a New Moon Day event, a variety of boosts and effects will take place.

The New Moon Day event is introduced on May 2025, as a counterpart to Good Sleep Day events. New Moon Day is associated with Darkrai, which has an increased appearance rate during the event.

Effects

The following bonuses apply if a player tracks their sleep during a New Moon Day event.[1]

  • Mythical Pokémon Darkrai will have a special appearance rate.
    • Mythical Pokémon may be encountered in all areas, regardless of sleep type. They have a chance to appear during the first sleep research of the day, but never during the second sleep research of the day.
    • If a Mythical Pokémon wasn't encountered during sleep research, its chances of appearing during New Moon Day will increase a little at a time.
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon.
  • Lowers chance of "All Full!" when feeding Pokémon Biscuits during the first snack time of the day.

The following bonuses apply only during the first New Moon Day event on May 26-28, 2025.[1]

  • A few Pokémon of different sleep types will appear during sleep research regardless of your sleep type for that day.
  • Greater appearance rate: Murkrow and Honchkrow.

Starting with the sixth New Moon Day event on October 20-22, 2025, the following bonus was added:[2]

  • Every time the player encounters a Pokémon with a special appearance rate during New Moon Day sleep research, its friendship points will increase by 3 even if the player does not give them Biscuits.

Starting with the eighth New Moon Day event on December 19-21, 2025, the following bonus was added:[3]

  • If the player encounters a Pokémon with a special appearance rate, the number of Pokémon they encounter during that sleep research will increase by one. Up to a maximum of 11 Pokémon can be encountered with the use of Pokémon incense or Good Camp Tickets.

Starting with the twelfth New Moon Day event on April 16-18, 2026, the following bonus was added:[4]

Event bonuses only apply for sleep sessions tracked during the event. If a player tracks their sleep before the event begins but decides to review it later once the event starts, event bonuses will not be applied. Conversely, if the player tracks their sleep during the event, the player may still receive event bonuses even if they review their sleep after the event has ended.[1]

Event bonuses do not apply to sleep tracking during the tutorial.[1]

In the days leading up to the New Moon Days, there is also a bundle available in the shop that can be purchased for 1,200 Diamonds and contains one Ultra Biscuit, three Great Biscuits, ten Poké Biscuits, and three Friend Incenses.

Event time

A New Moon Day event runs for a total of 72 hours, beginning at 4:00 a.m. local time, which is the time at which a day in Pokémon Sleep starts. New Moon Day events are held on the three days before, during, and after a new moon.[1]
