Sylvester

Sylvester (Japanese: ナオト Naoto) is a character of the day who appeared in A Farfetch'd Tale.

He and his boss Yosaku (father in the English dub) live in the Ilex Forest. They cut down trees and use them to make Charcoal. Sylvester tried to use his Farfetch'd and its Cut attack to cut down a tree, but it wouldn't listen to him. Ash told him that this was because he commanded it to use Cutting Attack, rather than Cut.

After it was stolen by Team Rocket, Sylvester helped save Farfetch'd. Realizing that its Trainer cared about it, Farfetch'd began to listen and helped Sylvester cut down trees for Charcoal. As a way of expressing his thanks, Sylvester and his father gave Ash and his friends some Charcoal.

Farfetch'd refused to listen to Sylvester initially because of his inexperience. Sylvester wanted to use it to slice trees and make Charcoal but it later ran away. Team Rocket then found it, wandering, and cornered it. It tried to run away and flew up to a tree. Jessie sent out her Lickitung and it stole its leek, however. It tried to escape again, but this time it was successfully captured by Team Rocket. Ash's Heracross spotted it and the gang came to its rescue. Ash's Pokémon broke the net, but Lickitung quickly captured Farfetch'd with its tongue. After a long battle, Sylvester was able to grab Farfetch'd's leek from Jessie, and was able to command it successfully now, sending Team Rocket blasting off. Later, it was able to slice a tree correctly, much to Yosaku's satisfaction.

Farfetch'd's known moves are Cut, Peck, and Fury Attack.
