Mic Test
The Mic Test (Japanese: マイクテスト) is a feature in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Black and White, and Black 2 and White 2. It is an interface for testing the microphone on the Nintendo DS.
It was originally added in HeartGold and SoulSilver as a hidden title screen function that is activated by pressing the X, Y, and ↓ buttons simultaneously. In the Generation V games, it is an entry in the main menu.
A Mic Test function was later included in the settings of the DSi and the 3DS system software, so this feature became unnecessary and was removed in post-Generation V games. As HeartGold, SoulSilver, and the Generation V games are DS titles, the inclusion of the Mic Test provided players using the older DS models with the ability to test their microphone.
