Mega Altaria ex and Indeedee ex is a Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocketdeck archetype that has been played since the release of Mega Rising in 2025. The deck's strategy revolves around filling the Bench with Psychic Pokémon to power up Mega Altaria ex's Mega Harmony attack. Indeedee ex is one of the support Pokémon of choice, further enhancing Mega Altaria ex's bulk with its Watch Over ability.
Strategy
With its high HP and low Energy requirements of only , Mega Altaria ex with a full Bench is a powerhouse that can deal damage very quickly. Pairing it with Indeedee ex is a natural choice, as Indeedee ex can heal Mega Altaria ex from the Bench. However, Mega Altaria ex being worth a game-ending 3 points means the deck usually saves it as a finisher after getting value out of its other Pokémon.
Mega Altaria ex's Basic form, Swablu, has 50 HP which allows it to be searched with Lisia along with another Pokémon. The usual Lisia-compatible toolbox consists of Chingling, a good early-game Pokémon that shuts down key Items like Poké Ball and Rare Candy, and Jirachi, which can rack up chip damage or even pick off weak evolving Basics if left unchecked.
An alternative build for the archetype forgoes the Lisia package in favor of Giratina ex as a second bulky attacker. With the deck already running in the Energy Zone, Giratina ex comes online much faster by pairing Broken-Space Bellow with regular Energy attachments, making it an early-game powerhouse whose recoil damage is healed off by Indeedee ex.
Weaknesses
Regardless of build, Swablu is a very frail Basic Pokémon, and opening with only a Swablu and no other Pokémon is a very precarious position. Even if it is not Knocked Out, evolving into Mega Altaria ex with a sparse Bench results in underwhelming damage output.
The Lisia variant also runs a lot of low-HP Pokémon that can easily be knocked out, meaning Bench-hitting damage from cards like Greninja can bypass Mega Altaria ex to win on points. Sabrina can also cause problems if there isn't a second Mega Altaria ex set up on the Bench, as Indeedee ex's 130 HP puts it in range of strong attackers like Mega Blaziken ex and opposing Mega Altaria ex and the other Pokémon in the deck are equally vulnerable.
Key cards
Mega Rising
Mega Altaria ex - The deck's strongest attacker and main finisher, Mega Altaria ex deals 130 damage for only with a full Bench and has high enough HP to outlast many opposing attackers.
Indeedee ex - Provides utility from the bench by healing your Active Pokémon with Watch Over, both contributing to Mega Harmony's damage and further enhancing Mega Altaria ex's bulk. It can also deal respectable damage against opposing attackers that are already set up.
Lisia - Searches two Basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less, including Swablu to evolve into Mega Altaria ex along with other utility options.
Chingling - Hampers opponents' momentum by shutting down their Item use; the chip damage can also help Mega Altaria ex in the later game.
Jirachi - Deals chip damage to pressure Basic Pokémon, weaken tougher opponents for Mega Altaria ex, or enable Cyrus.
Rocky Helmet - Adds chip damage to help Mega Altaria ex more easily score knockouts.
Cyrus - Stops damaged Pokémon from retreating to safety, and pairs with Jirachi to pick off key targets.
Mars - As the deck often trades points from its non-Mega Pokémon, Mars can heavily disrupt the opponent's hand.
Shining Revelry
Giratina ex - An alternative build-around that trades the utility of the Lisia package for stronger early-game bulk and damage. It comes online relatively quickly thanks to Broken-Space Bellow, and self-damage from Chaotic Impact is offset by Indeedee ex.
Red - Usually used in Giratina ex builds to help both Giratina ex and Mega Altaria ex hit the 150-damage threshold for knockouts against Stage 2 Pokémon and Pokémon ex.
Tapu Lele - An alternative early-game attacker with low Energy requirement, decent HP, and flexible damage output, combining the roles of Jirachi and Giratina ex.
Guzma - Can remove HP-boosting Pokémon Tools to help secure knockouts, or remove Rocky Helmet to prevent chip damage.
