(Japanese: ゴン爺 Old Man Gon) is a character of the day who appeared in Houndoom's Special Delivery. He was not given a name in the English dub.
While he was tending his Mareep, Old Man Gon noticed his Houndoom, Doomy, had found a Togepi. He found out that the Togepi belonged to Misty and was happy that she showed up and got it back. However, Team Rocket came by and tried to steal Doomy by firing a net at it. Ash and his friends then battled Team Rocket and freed Doomy. After Team Rocket's defeat, Old Man Gon and Doomy led the group back on their way, saying their goodbyes.

Old Man Gon has a Houndoom nicknamed Doomy. Doomy usually does some deliveries for the farmer while he tends the Mareep. It was not given a nickname in the Japanese version.
After Ash and his friends battled Team Rocket for the first time in the episode, Doomy noticed that a Togepi was separated from its Trainer. It was intent on reaching its destination, but returned to Togepi's aid several times after hearing its cries. It cheered Togepi up by giving it an apple. When a Pinsir came by and was threatening Togepi, Doomy scared it off and took Togepi with it as Togepi was crying again. It eventually returned to its owner, Old Man Gon, who noticed that Doomy brought along Togepi. As Ash and his friends arrived, Misty thanked Doomy for taking good care of Togepi. As soon as both Misty and Togepi were reunited, Team Rocket arrived and fired a net at Doomy. Doomy was soon freed by Chikorita's Razor Leaf and blasted the trio off with Flamethrower.
After their defeat, Doomy joined Old Man Gon when he was leading the group back on their way. Togepi felt sad that it had to leave its new friend behind, but Doomy wanted it to stay with Misty.
Doomy's only known move is Flamethrower.
Old Man Gon has a ranch where he tends a large amount of Mareep.
None of their moves are known.
