Release information
This card was included as a Regular card, a Full Art ultra rare card, a special illustration rare card, and a gold etched hyper rare card in the Scarlet & Violet expansion, first released in the Japanese Scarlet ex expansion. The Regular, Full Art, and hyper rare prints feature artwork by aky CG Works, while the special illustration rare print features artwork by Ryota Murayama. An oversized version of the Regular print lacking its type, Weakness, Resistance, retreat cost, attack cost, collection number, and references to Energy types in its Ability was available in the Paldea Collection from January 6, 2023.
An oversized version of the actual Regular print featuring the Scarlet & Violet expansion logo on the right side of the artwork was given away with eligible Pokémon Trading Card Game purchases in various countries to celebrate the launch of the set on March 31, 2023. In the United Kingdom, it was given to customers who purchased at least £15 worth of TCG products at participating GAME stores.[1] In the Czech Republic, it was given to customers who purchased at least 399 Kč worth of Scarlet & Violet TCG products at participating JRC or Smarty stores, or from their online shops.[2] In Germany, it was given to customers who purchased at least €20 worth of TCG products at participating duo schreib & spiel stores.[3] In Ireland, it was available with qualifying purchases at GameStop stores.[4] In Italy, it was given to customers who purchased at least €20 worth of TCG products at participating Autogrill, Mondadori, Prenatal, or Mediaworld stores.[5][4] In Slovakia, it was given to customers who purchased at least €15.99 worth of Scarlet & Violet TCG products at participating BRLOH or Smarty stores, or from their online shops.[6] It was also distributed from April 1, 2023 in the Netherlands and was given to customers who purchased at least €25 worth of TCG products at participating Intertoys stores or from its online shop.[7] Although announced on March 31 alongside several localizations, it was not distributed in France until May 6. From this date until May 20, 2023, it was given to customers who purchased at least €25 worth of TCG products at participating Smyths stores.[8][9]
The Regular print was reprinted with different artwork by aky CG Works as one of the SVP Black Star Promos and was available in the Paldea Legends Tins from June 9, 2023. On this print, the illustrator is incorrectly shown as 5ban Graphics. This error was corrected on the digital scan of the card. A Jumbo-sized variant of the SVP Black Star Promo was released in the Koraidon ex Collection, released exclusively in Portuguese. The SVP Black Star Promotional print was released in Japan as part of the Shiny Treasure ex subset, with the correct illustrator name.
