This card was included in the Mysterious Treasures expansion, first released in the Secret of the Lakes expansion in Japan. It was reprinted in the Japanese Bastiodon the Defender and Rampardos the Attacker Half Decks, as well as the English Majestic Dawn expansion.

• This card may have been based on and expanded from Fossil Excavation, a card from Series 1 of the Vending collection.
• Fossil Excavator is one of three Supporter cards released during the Diamond & Pearl Series whose English name does not include a possessive, the others being Professor Rowan and Rival.
• This card's artwork appears in the Lumiose Museum in Pokémon X and Y.

Origin

The ability to excavate fossils was introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as a minigame in the Sinnoh Underground.
